C. My Crump grandparents

Jones Edward Crump (1895-1970) and Margaret Rebecca Goebel Crump (1905-1976) lived in Longview, N.C., a town near Hickory, in the western Piedmont of North Carolina. This photo is from 1944. Margaret is wearing a fur coat that belonged to her oldest daughter, Sarah. They had 10 children, nine of whom lived to be adults. My mother, Betty George Crump Blackburn, was the fifth oldest -- a brother and three sisters were older; a sister and three brothers were younger.
